Anyone who suffers from disabilities that restrict them from the use of stairs may well need the use of disabled stair lifts. Many designs exist today for use in the home, place of work and public places. These come in different styles from platforms for wheelchair bound people to the simple seat that travels along a rail in the wall.

With today's materials and design capabilities most locations can easily be fitted for lifts. An important consideration here might be the space needed for installation and the possibility of restricting access for others. This is particularly important should an emergency arise and a quick exit is needed. However, due to the infinite design variations possible, this should not be a problem. Many designs work around space limitations such as chairs that fold flat against walls or into recesses; thus causing minimum or no traffic restriction.

Most properties can potentially have a lift fitted. This is mainly due to modern materials and ever improving designs. Space considerations could be one problem that needs attention especially where stairways are narrow. Consideration must be given in not restricting emergency exits. Stairlift systems can be made to fold flush to walls or fit into neat recesses and in doing so, cause little or no restriction of traffic flow at all.

Let us not forget the real reason for the existence of these appliances in that they give a lot more in the way of accessibility to those who suffer from the sort of disability that would once have been restricting until the birth of these liberating machines. Access and a lot of normality has been restored thanks to this one idea.

People with disabilities have the same rights as everyone else. Sometimes these aids can almost be taken for granted as part of our lives. However, there still are a minority of places that problems implementing chair lifts to make it disability friendly. Usually older historic buildings that are protected are the culprits.

Disabled stair lifts have been a real boon to people suffering any sort of disability, allowing an increased level of freedom and movement.
