How to Reset an Electric Water Heater
- 1). Look for a rectangular box mounted on the side of the water heater; this is your heater's control circuit panel.
- 2). Find the large red button at the center of the control circuit panel. This button is used to reset the water heater's thermal safety switch, sometimes called the high-limit temperature switch.
- 3). Press and hold the red reset button on the control circuit panel for three to five seconds to reset the water heater. Wait up to 24 hours for the water heater to resume normal operation.
