Home Remedy for Aphids and Scales
- 1). Place a 2-qt. or larger plastic spray bottle on a sturdy work surface. Remove the trigger spray top by turning it to the left, or counterclockwise, to loosen and remove.
- 2). Pour 1 1/2 cups of 70 percent isopropyl alcohol into a measuring cup. Add the measured alcohol to the 2-qt. spray bottle.
- 3). Fill the remainder of the spray bottle with 1 qt. of water. Measure the water in the measuring cup if necessary before adding to the spray bottle.
- 4). Place the trigger spray top back on the spray bottle and shake slightly to thoroughly mix the alcohol and water.
- 5). Adjust the nozzle of the spray bottle to a fine spray. Hold the tip of the spray nozzle 6 to 8 inches from the parts of the plant infested with aphids and scales. Thoroughly wet the aphids and scales with the alcohol solution.
