    • 1). Use hydrogen peroxide. Using a dropper add a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to your child's ear. Allow it to bubble, then turn your child's ear to drain. This can help dislodge ear wax.

    • 2). Use the natural approach. A few drops of olive or mineral oil in your child's ear can soften the ear wax. Softened wax will often come out on its own.

    • 3). Rest your child's ear on a warm water bottle or on a warm cloth. Heat can help melt ear wax so it can drain. Be sure that the temperature of the surface is warm and not hot.

    • 4). Purchase an over-the-counter ear wax removal solution or kit.

    • 5). Contact your child's pediatrician. He may have a preferred method of loosening and removing ear wax. The doctor may soften and scrape away the ear wax from your child's ear.

    • 6). Go for prevention. Keep your child's ears clean by using a soft washcloth on the outer ear. You'll also want to be sure to keep your child hydrated. Dehydration can make ear wax harder.
