Alaska Native Serving and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions Education Grants

    • The "Alaska Native Serving and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions Education Grants" (AH) gives assistance to Native Americans obtaining an education in the areas of "food, agriculture and natural resources." Thus, a company in the food industry that recruits college students of Native American descent may obtain such funding.

    Native American Program

    • The "Native American Program" (NAP) helps Native Americans who are trying to create a successful business. The NAP gives to certain business "development centers" that assist Native Americans in managing their business and technical support. If one of these "development centers" regularly helps Native Americans who own small businesses to set up their computers then it may be able to obtain such a grant. However, direct funding to Native American businesses is not permitted.

    Tribal Colleges and Universities Program

    • The "Tribal Colleges and Universities Program" (TCUP) aids Native American
tribal colleges and universities. It provides such institutions with funding to construct, make bigger and furnish their facilities. However, such money cannot be used for anything else. Thus if a tribal college needs money to buy equipment for its football team it cannot use TCUP grant money. It can use such money to repair the locker room where the football team is based.

Indian Community Development Block Grant Program

    • The "Indian Community Development Block Grant Program" (ICDBGP) assists Native American communities with improving their housing and infrastructure. It provides funding to programs that buy property for housing, construct structures for home ownership, and construct streets and parks. All of these structures must be located in Native American communities such as reservations. No portion of these funds may be used to fund political activities or construction of government buildings.

    Aid to Tribal Governments

    • The "Aid to Tribal Governments" grant gives money to assist the operations of Native American governments. The program funds the administrative and governmental organizations that run the Native American reservations in all of their normal operations.
