If your kitchen cupboards are beginning to show their age, or if they are showing signs of the constant wear and tear that they undergo on a daily basis, you may be considering replacing them entirely.
They are constantly being used and abused, opened, shut, and subjected to just about everything that occurs in the kitchen, both good and bad.
The paint may be peeling or suffering damage from water or steam, or may simply be chipping away from time and use.
The desire to replace them may be quite strong, but it may also not be necessary at all.
Instead of replacing your kitchen cupboard doors, you may find just as much benefit by doing nothing more than simply repainting them.
In most cases, all the wear and damage sustained by cabinet doors is taken up by the paint itself, and the wood beneath is left almost completely unscarred.
Removing the offending paint and throwing on a few new coats may not only improve the appearance of your cabinets, but may make them look entirely new.
This, of course, only applies when there is no serious physical damage to the wood itself.
For example, if the door itself is cracked or split or has a hole in it, no amount of paint is going to undo that damage and replacing the entire door may be the only option.
Minor cracks and imperfections, however, can simply be filled in, sanded over, and painted to disguise them completely, leaving a smooth surface that shows no indication of what lies underneath.
