Missouri has 22 two-year colleges serving students in every part of the state, with five schools comprising Kansas City's Metropolitan Community College District and four making up the St. Louis Community College District. Whether urban or rural, each school offers associate's degrees and career training opportunities, as well as opportunities to transfer to Missouri's four-year colleges and universities. - Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, is a two-year college for women and Missouri's only single-sex junior college. Crowder College has a satellite location in Nevada, but its main campus is in Neosho, with additional satellite campuses in Cassville and Webb City. East Central College is in Union, and Jefferson College has four locations just south of St. Louis in the Jefferson County towns of Hillsboro, Arnold, High Ridge and Imperial.
- The Metropolitan Community College District consists of five schools in the Kansas City area: Blue River, Business & Technology Center, Longview, Maple Woods and Penn Valley. Mineral Area College is in Park Hills, just an hour from downtown St. Louis. Missouri State University West Plains is the two-year-degree-granting branch of the four-year state university in Springfield. Moberly Area College consists of the main campus in the central Missouri town of Moberly, with additional locations in Columbia, Edina, Hannibal, Kirksville, Mexico and Macon; it also serves students via distance learning. North Central Missouri College in Trenton also offers classes in Bethany, Chillicothe and Maryville. Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield not only offers technical degrees in such fields as automotive technology and hospitality management but also has a full range of transferable associate's degree programs.
- St. Charles Community College is 30 miles northwest of St. Louis in the St. Charles County city of Cottleville. St. Louis has its own system of community colleges, with four schools--Florissant Valley, Forest Park, Meramec and Wildwood--comprising the St. Louis Community College District. State Fair Community College is so named due to its location in Sedalia, the site of the annual Missouri State Fair. Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, which has eight off-campus centers, is the only community college serving the southeast Missouri region. Wentworth Military Academy and College in Lexington is one of the oldest two-year colleges in the nation and serves both civilian students and a corps of ROTC cadets interested in Army commissions after graduation.
