Limited pre-sale of new thriller THE PLATINUM LOOP by Austin Williams to coincide with auction of Ma
Los Angeles, CA. August 1st, 2011 -- Independent publisher Upaya House will make one of its most anticipated upcoming titles available on a limited pre-sale basis for two days in August. Slated for publication on November 15th, The Platinum Loop by Austin Williams contains numerous plot elements mirrored with uncanny similarity by recent news developments.
Set in the early 1970s, The Platinum Loop focuses on two grifters who devise an elaborate and risky scheme involving a long-lost 8mm pornographic film clip starring Marilyn Monroe. On July 20th, 2011, a swarm of media reports sparked global interest by revealing that an actual film loop, almost identical to the one described in Williams' novel, was recently unearthed in Argentina and will go on auction at the Buenos Aires Film Collecting Fair in August. Bidding for the Monroe loop starts at $500,000, with the final sale price expected to triple that figure.

Upaya House is making the book available on a temporary pre-sale basis for two days, August 6th and 7th, to coincide with the dates of the auction. The Platinum Loop is a follow-up to Williams' acclaimed 2008 thriller, Crimson Orgy. Film rights to Crimson Orgy were optioned by noted screenwriter Scott Kosar (The Machinist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and the project is currently in development with Kosar producing and Williams adapting the screenplay from his novel. Interest in the film rights to The Platinum Loop has accelerated in response to news coverage of the impending auction, according to the publisher.
During the temporary pre-sale period, The Platinum Loop will be available for purchase exclusively from Amazon, both in trade paperback as well as on the Kindle e-reader device. The book will be sold through all major online and brick & mortar outlets upon its full release in November.
