The Life of Jesus

• As the central figure in Christianity, and the very cornerstone of the faith, events within the life of Jesus offer powerful skit possibilities to enlighten and educate onlookers. Stories about Jesus' life are contained within the gospels of the Bible's New Testament, which are the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Some stories, such as Jesus' birth, are well known, but may contain small facts that many people overlook. Other stories, such as those of Jesus' childhood, gathering of disciples, actions towards other people, ministry and crucifixion offer insights into how Jesus dealt with certain people and situations, and how the skit audience can handle similar people and situations in their lives.
  
  

Old Testament/New Testament Tie-Ins

• Because Jesus himself often referenced Biblical scriptures contained within the Old Testament, skits can highlight how the Christian faith both grew from events of the Old Testament, and how the new faith also departed from tradition. A skit can showcase particular social and religious customs that the people in Jesus' hometown of Nazareth, and the surrounding areas, followed. The skit can then show how Christianity's arrival brought new ways of thinking and acting for those that followed Jesus.

• Interpersonal relationships are an important factor in the workplace, so a skit can offer vignettes of situations that Christians may easily find themselves facing with their coworkers. For example, a skit could show a Christian having her faith tested through a temptation to steal small workplace items when everyone else is doing the same, or a new Christian who still works the rowdy coworkers he partied with.

• Skits can focus on decidedly modern issues that concern a younger audience. Skits can use basic Christian teachings to inform teens on how to handle new situations with old teachings that are still applicable, even with topics such as rap music, which was not around in Biblical times. Skits can also enlighten parents and older adults to social and sexual situations that their children and teenagers face, which adults may otherwise be unaware of.
