With all the SLR cameras to choose from these days, you may be finding it difficult to decide which one to buy.
Well, this story may just make it easier for you to decide on the Canon Rebel XSi.
As with many of the digital SLRs on the market today, the XSi makes some compelling arguments for choosing it.
A 3 inch LCD is the standard for most quality cameras these days, and the XSi, is no exception.
The LCD is not only large, but has a resolution of 230K, and provides good viewing from multiple viewing angles of 150 or degrees or more.
A very welcome status screen is also provided, which works well with the information displayed via the main LCD.
Being a Canon, you will have the pick of the litter when it comes to additional lenses.
The EF-S 18-55mm f/3.
5-5.
6 IS kit lens is great for beginning SLR photographers, but it's good to know, that you will have plenty of choices for extra lenses down the road.
Spot metering is just one of the features that Canon added to the XSi, that is often found on more expensive cameras.
Flash exposure compensation is another such feature.
Another cool feature, is a count down timer, that will take multiple shots for you.
Meaning, that you don't have to run back to the camera after every shot, to reset the timer.
Multiple ISO settings, make this Rebel a more flexible camera.
They allow the photographer to compensate for less than perfect lighting conditions, or for situations when using a flash is no possible.
ISO settings are 200, 400, 800, and 1600.
Higher settings makes the camera more responsive to light.
Live View, is a much touted feature, especially since so many first time SLR users are accustomed to it with their old point and shoot cameras.
This works well, when you have to hold the camera away from your face to frame a picture.
Live view focusing can be a bit difficult though, as it's a bit slow.
Keep in mind, that if your considering a buying a Rebel XSi, there are a few other models in the Rebel lineup with similar features.
The XT (if you can find one), the XS, and the newly launched T1i.
The T1i, is more expensive, but also comes with high definition options, and a much improved image sensor.
