The 2009 Solheim Cup was a hard-fought battle in front of record crowds in Illinois, crowds fired up with encouragement from American players. The fans got their money's worth with Team USA improving its overall Solheim Cup record to 8-3 against Team Europe, and remaining unbeaten in the competition on home turf.

The teams were tied at 8-8 entering the final day of play, singles match play.

But the U.S. side earned points in each of the first five singles matches out of the gate, and wrapped up the Cup when Morgan Pressel defeated Anna Nordqvist in Game 11.

Team USA had an 8-4 edge in singles, producing the final 4-point margin of victory.

Two players in the 2009 Solheim Cup earned 3.5 points for her side. Gwladys Nocera went 3-0-1 for Europe. And Michelle Wie, and LPGA rookie and a somewhat controversial captain's pick, was 3-0-1 for the USA.
