Definition:

The Owo site is located in the modern city of that name in the Ondo region of southern Nigeria and is the remains of a Yoruba city state dated to the 15th century AD. The city's location halfway between Benin and Ile Ife is reflected in the artwork identified at the site, which has elements of both these cultural traditions. Owo was excavated by the Nigerian archaeologist Ekpo Eyo in 1971.
