How to Remove Clogs From Sinks
- 1). Position a plunger over the clogged drain so the entire drain hole is covered. Hold the plunger with both hands, one above the other, on the wooden handle part. Push the plunger quickly up and down over the drain for one minute or so.
- 2). Remove the plunger from the clogged drain and run hot water from the faucet. If the water is standing in the sink, turn it off and wait a minute to see if the water slowly drains out.
- 3). Pour 1 cup baking soda into your drain if the clog is still present. While the baking soda sits for a few minutes, heat 1 cup white vinegar in the microwave for one minute until it's hot.
- 4). Add the hot vinegar to your clogged drain. The baking soda and vinegar mixture will foam, helping to cut grease and food particles, break down soap scum and loosen your clog. Allow the two ingredients to work on the drain clog for 10 minutes.
