Have you ever wondered how you can increase your LinkedIn marketing efforts with a few simply changes? If you get this right you are over halfway to improving your business and networking opportunities available business to business.
The whole purposes of LinkedIn is to make connections and engage with those connections you make.
We must remember that LinkedIn is completely different to Facebook and Twitter where your profile is based on what you are sharing.
LinkedIn was initially set up as a recruitment site and currently holds top position on the web for this fact.
So consider your LinkedIn profile pretty much like your online resume.
Effectively telling people about your business and work experiences.
LinkedIn is aimed at the Business to Business world.
Another great thing about LinkedIn is that it is Search Engine friendly.
Completing your profile properly may land you on Google front page.
A note to remember, Google algorithms change all the time, hence moving towards more Social Proof Experts.
In order for your LinkedIn profile to be successful it must be benefit driven.
Show case your experience and expertise, include your specialities, skills and you will be well on your way to being the go to expert your Industry or Profession.
Let's start with your photo, first impressions count.
You need a head shot with your huge big smile to greet your connections.
Remember you need to look professional.
My advice engage a Professional Photographer for all your Social Media Platforms and where possible use the same photo as it will make you familiar to your audience.
Name and headline is critical.
Remember people do business with those they like, know and trust.
"Steven Covey" So if you are trying to hide behind your business brand, it is time to step out into the "Hollywood Limelight".
It is under your name that you can use some relevant keywords to what you do, but don't over kill with the keywords, as it will start to look like spam.
Here is a really neat trick that a lot of people don't do.
Personalise your LinkedIn url.
See below: 1.
Click edit profile.
2.
Click edit LinkedIn url.
3.
Click customize url.
4.
Create url and set custom url.
Now let's showcase in Hollywood style your summary and specialities.
Here you need to introduce yourself, expand on your expertise and give a call to action for your connection.
What they will get by connecting, visiting your website or joining your group.
This is what you should do when writing your summary: Introduce yourself and explain what you do.
Let connections know how you can help them.
Include credibility.
Offer something for free.
A direct link to your landing page or website.
Include a bit of personal background.
Moving on we get to your experiences.
My recommendations don't list every single job and position since you left school.
Heck times have changed, connections are more interested in what you are currently doing, not what you were doing 20 years ago.
This is also where you can use some of those keywords relevant to your niche market.
Projects.
This is absolutely brilliant.
You can showcase and tell connections what you are working on, so don't wait load them up and grow your exposure.
The number of projects you can add may vary on the type of LinkedIn subscription you have.
Endorsements are another great way to showcase your talents, but sadly this is being over abused within LinkedIn itself.
Please only ask for endorsements for the skills you qualify in, reciprocate endorsement to connections who are qualified in their own area of expertise.
Education.
This I think is more relevant to connecting with past friends and colleagues, more of a networking area of LinkedIn to catch up with other Professionals from your past.
Now recommendations are your LinkedIn Testimonials.
These you should get directly from other businesses, individuals or clients you have worked with.
The key to successful Testimonials is they should be true.
I personally would not recommend anyone that I have never had first hand experience with by using their products or services.
Additional information use this to showcase your websites, such as home page, blogs your other social networking profiles.
Groups is an interesting topic amongst Internet Marketers.
Groups Some Internet Marketers will say join as many groups as you can.
In my opinion you should join groups which are relevant to your Profession, Niche Market, or Expertise.
Staying on top of Social Media is hard enough and we are all limited by time constraints.
Pick a few that are relevant, post content and interact.
It is another way to make some great connections and open up the possibilities to joint ventures.
The overall objective is to: Create interesting content and be consistent.
Express interest in other connections content by commenting.
The purpose is to engage.
Share connections content.
(Sharing is caring).
Answer your post comments.
(Be courteous and polite).
Network.
Be a problem solver.
Update on a regular basis.
Don't sell, sell and try to sell more.
Use common sense.
Now finally let's look a your Company Page: 1.
Go to Company Page.
2.
Once on the Company Page click add Company.
You will need to add a business email address, and from there LinkedIn steps you through the process.
P.
S When making a connection always message them, the power of a thank you goes a thousand miles.
So what you need to do now is take this information and go build yourself an awesome LinkedIn Profile, start connecting, start creating great content and sharing, posting, create your Business Page and have fun during the process.
