What Is an Auto Insurance Declaration Page?
- Look for the one-page itemization of your various insurance coverages. This is called the declarations page.
- Confirm that you were covered during the time that you experienced a loss. The effective policy period is stated at the top of the declarations page.
- Ensure that the vehicle involved in the collision is listed as the insured vehicle. The year, make, model and VIN number of the insured vehicle is listed under the policy period.
- Ensure that the individual involved in the accident was listed as an insured driver. The names of the insured drivers are listed near the vehicle list. The policy will cover these drivers when driving the covered vehicles, riding as a passenger in the insured or other vehicles, injured by a vehicle while riding a bike, or when walking as a pedestrian.
- Confirm your levels of coverage. Under the list of insured vehicles is a list of coverages you purchased, the available limits and the premiums you paid for such limits.
