Weak Leadership Garners No Respect and Creates Animosity, Contempt, and Challenges

In the Summer of 2013 John Kerry the Secretary of State made a comment in Congressional Hearings that if the US didn't take some sort of action, even in a limited sense (strike) then, we would lose our credibility and respect around the globe and definitely within the region.
Yes, that was true at the time, but let's back track on all this and discuss why this is.
First, President Obama along with the rest of the world knew that Syria had chemical weapons, in fact, some believe those chemical weapons (WMD by definition) were those which left by Russian convoy out of Iraq two-days or so before the US forces stormed into Baghdad to go get Saddam Hussein.
If so, that's a problematic issue.
Especially considering the chemical weapons Saddam had originally came from the US so he could use them against Iran - another scary consideration.
Fast forward to today, since the President knew that Syria's Assad has chemical weapons, Obama, stated that if Assad used those chemical weapons on his people, those who were trying to overthrow him in revolution, that would be a "red line" and if crossed the US would intervene.
Syrian President Assad stated that those chemical weapons were in case of foreign invaders, and would never be used on its own citizens - an interesting treat and promise to the world.
Assad knows that Jordan, the Saudis, and the US CIA are helping fund and help the rebel forces against Assad with tactical information, weapons, and support.
Thus, the rebels have become in his mind; foreign invaders and he is doing what he said he would do - if in fact he used those weapons.
Further, he never signed the group of nations agreeing to not use chemical weapons.
Ah, so the plot thickens right? There was an interesting piece in the Wall Street Journal on August 31, 2013 titled; "Quietly, Some Allies Push for Action," by Adam Entous and Carol E.
Lee which denoted that Obama's waiver on the Syrian Military's use of chemical weapons and how the global media is portraying it, is likely to be seen by North Korea as a sign of inaction and puffed up chests with no bite.
South Korea is worried that without the US behind them, Kim Jong Un will cause them more trouble in the very near future - you know what - they have a good point - and this wishy-washy foreign policy by Obama could cause challenges.
Okay so, all in all the "red line" drawn in the sand was rather meaningless, unless it was a set up for a "false flag" exercise created by rebel allied nations to give excuse to chase.
Further, let it be known that at this point, failure to act will result in a loss of respect, however, weak leadership garners no respect and creates animosity, contempt and future challenges.
Might I add, this administration is reaping what it has sewn - and thus, made a terrible tactical error playing in someone else's chess game and by their rules - how naïve for such a brilliant group of political handlers and their teleprompter in chief.
