Tradition Is a Mindset That Overturns Spirituality
In my spiritual walk the thing most obvious for maintaining a link to the Spirit has been walking away from all things worldly.
The further the retreat from them the stronger the power.
With hindsight the stickiness of tradition stands out as a connection to anti-spiritual festivities and undesirable modes of pleasing others rather than listening to that inner voice.
The result is an abortion of the link that cannot be regained in a hurry.
Not everyone is spiritual to start with and the worship of pagan gods, such as the sun and moon, was so entrenched in the psyche that it continues today in various forms of modern worship.
December 25th is a case in point.
It was always a festival to the rebirth of the sun three days after solstice.
It heralded the start of winter and hibernation as the earth was blanketed in white, like a bride.
The expectation of spring gave strength to the people to survive.
At spring equinox, 22nd March, brought more festivities as the bride prepared to meet her mate who was then sacrificed on a cross, her sacred sign, to rise with the sun and rule in heaven.
His fertilising power brought prosperity to the earth and his elevation and resurrection to this role took place on 25th March.
This period was called the 'i-star' from whence came the term Easter, along with estrous and other expressions referring to the time.
This great event was a highlight of the year and the Mother God had three aspects - the earth, the sun, and the light.
This was the trinity of ancient time and one that modern religions cannot escape.
The birth of the sun is now celebrated as Christmas and that of the god-man death and resurrection is Easter.
Constantine changed the date of that festival to the new moon so as to hide its roots.
When he founded his religion in 325 AD at the Council of Nicaea he put Mother God into it as the Mother of God and he invented Jesus Christ as her son.
The Trinity was given new identities and the old ways continued in the rebirth of it.
Revelation 13:13-18 identified him as 666 and notes that he not only invented the prophet and its organisation but forced everyone to worship it or to die.
He then took control of commerce and the traditions that people follow and reorganized them into a new faith from which have sprung many branches.
Spirituality dies when these traditions are followed as it cannot live with them.
