I"m Not Addicted to Golf, I"m Impassioned to Golf (That"s My Story and I"m Sticking to It)

It occurred to me recently how flippantly many golfers refer to their "addiction" to our beloved game.
I myself have referred to my love of Golf as an addiction on several occasions that I can remember, and probably more that I no longer recall.
As I thought about this, for a brief period I was actually a bit startled.
It concerned me to actually stop and wonder my behavior actually reflected an addiction to golf.
I immediately thought of golf has crept into my everyday life, whether on the course or off.
For example, if you were to walk into my office you may notice my Golf Lamp positioned to the left of my laptop and just below a framed picture of Tiger Woods at the 2008 US Open.
You'd also note various golf pictures on display, including some of my favorite famous holes and others of me and my golf buddies.
Add to that, a golf ball display case featuring balls from various courses I have traveled to and played.
And, of course let's not forget the somewhat misshapen golf club paper weight, made for me by my oldest daughter when she was 5, that sits just in front of my radio.
I guess we can file that item under the "Golf Art" category.
This realization prompted me to then make a quick comparison of how Golf affects my life versus the affects a more common "addiction" may have.
I immediately felt better.
While I would have to admit that I have on occasion allowed golf to interrupt other elements of my life.
For instance, maybe I came home an hour or two later than expected because of a long round (or a third 9).
Maybe I have spent more money than I should have enjoying a round of golf at a course that cost a couple bucks more than I'd normally pay.
Maybe, even, I have missed an afternoon of work to get out and play a round.
So? The simple fact is that I already proved I am not addicted to golf in the second paragraph of this post.
Remember my Golf Lamp? What kind of addict would sit around letting a item of such obvious value just sit on a desk? My Picture of Tiger Woods would have been sold a long time ago for at least enough to play twice! And you can darn sure bet I wouldn't let an original work of Golf Art like my daughter's masterpiece hang around long.
Even my golf pictures would have been sold somehow, even if I had to Photoshop a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader into them.
See?
