What Makes A Good Website Good

103 12
Good websites aren't designed overnight.
Good websites are not created in an instant.
Good websites take time, dedication, planning, a good sense of direction, as well as a primary goal.
Good Websites Take Time If you don't have time to invest in setting up your website, why would you think your website is going to be any good? You must dedicate time to setting up the best website you can setup.
Whether that means taking an hour a day to focus entirely on the website, or taking 10 minutes to brainstorm with a business partner or other close colleague.
One thing about brainstorming is that it's always good to surround yourself with positive forward thinkers.
Some people may hold you back and have limited beliefs as far as how they perceive your ideas and website vision.
It's OK that they will think this way, but do not let them hold you back from moving forward with your idea! Good Websites Take Dedication You must remain dedicated if you wish to setup a good website.
Everyone has a busy schedule these days, so not everyone can put forth all of their free time into the setup of their website.
There are programmers and designers out there who can assist you in this process, however it's important that you are able to dedicate a somewhat reasonable amount of effort into at least getting the website launched and getting it "off the ground" so to speak.
Investing a little money up front for someone else to do research for you may be one of the best investments you can make up front.
If you don't have the time to dedicate, at least hire someone else who does! In the long run, you'll be extremely thankful! Good Websites Take Planning If you fail to plan, plan to fail! Good websites take careful and strategic planning.
You cannot simply wake up and say, "I want to create the next Facebook!" You must have a plan! You must realize there are usually others out there who think the same as you do.
So, you must ask yourself, "What is going to make my site stand out from the rest?" Careful and strategic planning is one of the reasons most websites do not do as well as they should.
Because the CEO failed to carefully plan the website! It's best to plan it from beginning to end, as well as attempt to foresee any problems that may arise along the way.
If you fail to plan, plan to fail! Good Websites Need A Good Sense of Direction It's always good to have a good sense of direction in regards to where you want your website to go.
For example, do you want it to appeal to a certain audience? Do you have a specific target audience? Kids? Adults? Senior citizens? People who watch TV? People who are into sports? People who use cell phones? It's best to estimate your target audience very eary on.
By doing this, you'll have a better idea as to what elements need to be included on your website to further appeal to your target audience.
It wouldn't make any sense to create a website for kids that is difficult to navigate! If your site is made for kids, you'll want to keep this in mind and keep everything as simple as possible! By having a good sense of direction, you can relay this information to your programmer or web designer so that the website can be constructed in the most meaningful and logical way possible.
Good Websites Have A Goal In Mind Now when we say goal, we don't mean that you should have a goal of attracting 10 million visitors on your website in a day.
Your goal should be reasonable and achievable.
If you do not know what a reasonable or achievable goal is, simply do some research.
Find out what other websites in your niche or industry have successfully proven and accomplished.
Lets say your goal is to get at least 10 people a day to give you a call at your free 1-800 number.
Now that you have your goal, what do you need to accomplish this goal? You'll of course need traffic.
So the next question becomes, how will you generate traffic? With each goal comes a problem that you'll need to find a solution for, so be prepared to encounter many unexpected obstacles along the way of reaching your goal.
In Conclusion Good websites take time.
If you're not a designer or programmer yourself, most likely they'll take a lot more time if you're doing it yourself.
You have to ask yourself sometimes if it's worth attempting to learn how to design a good website yourself, or if it's better to simply hire a professional to complete the task for you.
