How to Have Fun While Improving Memory

    • 1). Play cards. You can do this by yourself or with someone else. If you do it with a partner, take turns and the one with the most matches at the end wins. Shuffle the cards to mix them up. Lay the cards flat on top of the table with the picture sides down. No looking at the cards. Pick two cards to find matches. If they do not match turn the cards back over. Try again until you find a match. Set your matching cards aside.

    • 2). Use hand-held games. Hand-held games are perfect for parents and children on the go. You can choose the activity by skills (example Resource below).

    • 3). Buy video or DVD aids. Today children have a wide variety of entertainment. Along with ratings many videos also list the areas in which the show will help educate your child while viewing the video. You can get videos that will help with memorization learning in a fun way.

    • 4). Play memory games online. There are several memory games online that you can play for free (see Resources). On some sites you can pick levels of difficulty and many games are even timed. Work your way up and see how far you can get. Chances are the more you play the quicker you will do it and the better your memory will become.

    • 5). Play everyday. You do not have to buy games to help your memory. You can stimulate the mind by playing simple games anywhere you are. Incorporate these activities into your everyday life and you will see a difference. (See Resources for ideas on everyday play).
