How to Convert Bicycles to Electric
- 1). Select an electric bicycle conversion kit that works for you. Cost is obviously a consideration, as are how far and how fast you want to go on your electric bike.
- 2). Replace your wheel with the one that came with the conversion kit. This may be either the front or back wheel.
- 3). Mount the throttle on your handlebars. Make sure it doesn't get in the way of the wheel or your current brakes and gearshift.
- 4). Mount the battery and motor on the bicycle. These can be mounted onto the center of the bike frame, on a platform on the rear or even on the front.
- 5). Charge the battery fully and connect the wires to the throttle and the wheel. Make sure the wires do not interfere with the function of the bicycle.
- 6). Test the throttle and all connections before you take your new electric vehicle out for a spin.
