Vehicle Donation: Know Your Options
It is always a good idea to consider all of the alternatives before making an important decision. When I have to make an important decision I consider the pros and cons of every alternative, allowing me to make an informed decision. The decision to donate my car is no exception. There are some alternatives that should atleast be considered. Making a donation to charity has benefits which cannot be compared with monetary value, but I have to make sure that I am being financially responsible, as well.
Major Charities like Goodwill Industries and The American Red Cross do their best to advise people about all the options. Like most organizations, however, they do have their own interests so their advise may be a little biased but the facts will remain the same. Something that you should always remember about when considering your options is that trade-ins are rarely as fruitful as you might think. Trade-ins are very popular, and most car dealerships offer the facility to hand over your old car for a discount on a newer one, but the discount you receive will only ever be small
Trying to sell the car yourself might seem like the obvious alternative to car donation. But I am sure you know how expensive and time consuming selling your own car could be. This may require you to spend valuable time and resources ensuring that the car is in good condition and then you will have endless meetings with potential buyers. And then of course there is a whole lot of paperwork. If you donate your car to charity you will be placing this burden on the shoulders of somebody else. The charity will take care of everything, leaving you to worry about more important things. Moreover, if you decided to sell the vehicle yourself then you would have to incur expenses in transporting the vehicle from your home which could prove to be extremely expensive.
After considering all of your options you will see the obvious benefits that you can gain when you donate your car to charity.
