Fair St. Louis – Celebrate the Fourth of July in Style
Organized by the Fair Saint Louis Foundation, Fair St. Louis is a spectacular celebration featuring live music, air shows, educational activities and dazzling fireworks. It has been taking place since 1981 over the Fourth of July weekend. Regarded as "America's Biggest Birthday Party", this family-friendly and community-focused event takes place under the imposing Gateway Arch located in Jefferson National Expansion Memorial.
With the intention of promoting the region and enriching its citizens' quality of life, the fair's 2011 edition is set to take place followed by Celebrate St. Louis Summer Concerts. Both events are dedicated to representing the very best in the region's community. As well as being open and free to everyone, these two events will play a major role in promoting many of the attractions that make the region a destination worth visiting. Ever since its inception, the fair has rendered the region many gifts including the Mississippi River Overlook Stage, lighting of the Eads Bridge and a mile-long Riverfront Promenade.
This year, Fair St. Louis and Celebrate St. Louis Summer Concerts will take place respectively from 2nd to 4th of July and 15th to 23rd of July. Several world famous bands including ‘The Steve Miller Band'; an all-American music legend and ‘Maroon 5'; an American pop rock Los Angeles quintet will perform some of their greatest hits under the iconic Gateway Arch during the Fair.
A special Air Show is another major feature of the fair. The show includes fascinating performances from some of the country's top air show performers. Creating a feast for the eyes they will put on a spectacular patriotic display composed of aerial acrobatics.
The fair will include a free family entertainment area on the south teardrop of the Arch festival grounds. Providing hands-on activities and free performances for the whole family, the entertainment area has been given the name ‘Ameren Missouri K-Town Kids Zone'.
Celebrate St. Louis Summer Concerts which follows the fair, boasting the participation of major performers such as Gavin Degraw; a leading contemporary singer-song writer, The Barenaked Ladies who took North America by storm in the early 90's and more.
