The Word of Promise - Next Generation Audio Bible

103 5
Looking for a way to get your young multi-tasker to relish the scriptures? Today's teen is looking for now and fast so why not give it to them in a dynamic audio format that will catch their attention.
Having taught chapel at a local Christian Academy and spending time teaching bible class on Sabbaths with some of the youth in church I figured I could roll out a review on The Word of Promise: Next Generation.
Although I do prefer the complete version of the bible (as this is the New Testament only) I didn't mind the fact that they had younger voices and it really lent to people of this age group especially if they are familiar with some of the actors.
I have to say that I am really liking the narration done by Sean Astin.
Having seen some of Sean Astin's work in the past I was real impressed with his work her on the Word of Promise Next Generation.
The Bible translation used on The Word of Promise Next Generation is actually ICB (International Children's Bible) while the Word of Promise uses the NKJV for the complete bible version as well as the Old Testament and New Testament single packages.
The depth of meaning within the verses just comes alive for me as I listen, and it really makes me feel as if I'm watching a movie in my head and the overall theatrics as far as background noises and music are great and make you feel like you are really there and participating instead of just reading through the bible all by yourself.
The music in the background that rises and falls, along with the voices of the actors, really balance each other out and make this a great thing to listen to for both adults and children.
This is something that you can carry with you in the car so that you can play it on trips, on the way to work or wherever you may be headed.
yet it's also something I can put on while I'm cooking dinner.
It's a great way for a busy dad with two little ones running around, to really glean Scripture day in and day out.
One thing that burdens my heart is to lead young people into a relationship with Jesus.
I feel as part of the great commission it was not just given to adults with experience but to young as well.
Studies have shown that the earlier we reach our children with the tools that get them to engage scripture the more likely they are to stay focused on their redeemer.
Parents can use this CD in the home while the kids play instead of watching TV which is exactly what I like to do as I enjoy playing things whether it is worship music or something like this.
You could also put it on the kid's iPod or other MP3 player, and playing it in the car.
In either case The Word of Promise: Next Generation has the potential to raise the exposure to the New Testament as a supplement to their time in the Bible.
If exposure is our goal then this resource is it for kids and teenagers.
The Word of Promise: Next Generation is much more than just a word-for-word reading: it's an all-star cast performing audio drama with a rich original score and Hollywood special effects.
When Jesus walks on the water, kids will feel like they're in the boat.
When Peter waits in the courtyard during the Lord's trial, the fire will crackle.
The ambient sounds of the Holy land, the breath-taking musical score, the world-class young actors and the timeless Word of Promise all combine to deliver an unparalleled achievement.
