What"s Our Role in Green World Initiatives? - Part 1
In recent years the "Green" topic has been one of the most discussed and debated issue around the globe.
So what is actual green technology? In my view, green means anything that we do and use in our daily life that does not affect the condition of the mother earth.
Is possible to do that, and if it is possible how you going to define that in all your activities.
There are many small things that we can do at our home that will eventually contribute towards a greater green world.
Let us take water as an example; all of us consume significant amount of water in our daily life.
These include for cooking, bathing, drinking, gardening, and so on.
Do you need to use only treated water for all your activities? For cooking and drinking, definitely you have to; but for other activities not necessary.
If you don't have to use treated tap water, then what water to use.
This is where the rainwater harvesting method comes in.
Where all the rainwater that falls on your roof and garden goes to? To the drain and from there it goes into the river system and then being extracted to water treatment plant, and finally comes back to you with a price a tag.
Why not you collect this water and use it for your non-oral consumption purpose.
Sounds simple isn't it, and believe me it is also easy to do.
Most of our home comes with roof gutters; so you just need to gather all the water that flows through these gutters to a storage tank.
Your storage tank size depends on estimated rainfall for your area, and the tank quality depends on your wallet capacity.
You might need some accessories to make the water quality better.
Once collected, you can start using it immediately for your gardening, car washing, and etc.
However, if you're willing to spend a bit of your cash, then you can even use this water for bathing, and I have seen some people using it for cooking and drinking.
I won't suggest cooking and drinking unless you're living in jungle, where the rainwater is purer than any treated water.
There are many ways that we can be part of the green world, so let us do whatever we can to make our world greener.
After all we are the one who put the world in current situation.
