Why Blog Titles Matter (Hint - Your Headlines Stink)

If you have ever looked for bloggers to follow, then you have probably visited sites like Technorati or Alltop.
These sites contain thousands of blogs in hundreds of categories.
A great marketing tool is commenting on top blogs in your field of expertise.
These sites offer a "one-stop shop" for anyone interested in learning more about a certain topic.
If you are trying to get attention for your blog, but are not having any luck, then try sprucing up your titles.
Along with posting frequently and selecting appropriate keywords, the title of your blog posts are an important part of why people read and subscribe to your blog.
It is vital your post headlines are not boring or irrelevant to your business.
Here are some things to remember when writing your next blog post: (1) Make each and every blog post interesting and put some effort into the headline.
Think about the needs, concerns and interests of your readers, clients and potential clients and find topics that provide great value while showing you as an expert in the field and offering a glimpse into how it would be to work with you.
(2) Include relevant keywords in your blog post title.
If you cover real estate, but never include real estate words or phrases in your headings, then you might get past right over.
Your headlines offer insight into what you will be sharing and provide a reason for someone to return to your site.
Also include keywords in your headings when possible and when appropriate.
(3) Blog often so people want to come back to your site.
Not necessarily a title suggestion, but on aggregate blog sites, the headings are the only thing listed.
If someone visits those sites and only see the same post titles as before, then how many times will they return in the hopes to find something new before they give up on you all together.
(4) Give people something to debate (a.

everyone loves a good argument) and promote the key question in your title.
Ask questions or issue challenges, anything to encourage folks to comment on your post.
You want to engage people, with you and other readers.
Build a community where people can learn, share, express and grow.
Remember, blogging is a powerful tool for your business and it must be treated as a primary communications tool, not an afterthought or like a trip to the dentist.
Plan ahead, set a calendar of posts, do your research, look for ways to create discussions and debate, be consistent, provide valuable content and, most of all, have fun.
