2014 PGA Championship Odds

Golf's final Major of the season tees-off from Valhalla Golf Club this Thursday with the USPGA Championship. Reigning major champions Rory McIlroy (Open Championship), Martin Kaymer (U.S. Open) and Bubba Watson (Masters) head traditionally the strongest field of the season, with 99 of the top 100 on the planet rankings likely to participate. With victory in the Open Championship and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on his last two starts. Sportsbook streamingsportspicks.com have Rory McIlroy as the favorite at 5 to 1 odds, which would make him a back once again to back Major winner. Tiger Woods withdrew after eight holes in the last round of the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational with a poor back, and he doesn't know if he'll be playing in this week's PGA Championship. Below is my preview and picks along with all the current PGA Championship Odds for you to consider.

Rory McIlroy (5/1) catapulted back once again to world No 1 together with his last two wins. His driving looks imperious, he's hitting greens galore and his putter is working too. McIlroy won this event by eight shots in 2012 and was also third in both 2009 and 2010.

Valhalla looks suitable for his excellent long game and if the rain does arrive that is a big plus too. Rory's a straight better player when conditions are soft and he has every potential for winning his third tournament in-a-row

Adam Scott (12/1) has been wonderfully consistent in the majors the past four seasons. Scott has finished in the top-ten in every one of his last five events, including a quite brilliant fifth at the Open Championship from the incorrect side of the draw, and the same as Rory, he has the best game for Valhalla. Scott currently ranks second for Total Driving on the PGA Tour, the stat that measures both distance and accuracy off the tee.

Justin Rose (16/1) won back-to-back events when he took the Quicken Loans National in the States and the Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen and although he's played well at both Open Championship and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, I really do wonder whether his run of form is visiting an end. He didn't putt brilliantly the other day either and that is a bit off-putting.

Sergio Garcia (16/1) shot a class record 61 including that magnificent Friday back 9. His back 9 on Friday and front 9 on Saturday actually totalled to 59 - the magic number. This 2nd place was now his third in the last 4 events and is truly knocking on the entranceway of that winners enclosure. It's a tournament that has also seen him finish 2nd, back in 2008. Sergio has the right armory to attack Valhalla. Last week he averaged 312yards off the tee and ranked 5th GIR and 16th putting.
