What Is Business Class Air Travel?
- Flights shorter than three hours may not feature Business Class service or may combine Business Class service with First Class. Longer flights including international ones are more likely to include Business Class.
- In Business Class, seats have two to three inches more width and double the legroom over Economy Class. The amount of reclining capacity in the seats varies by airline, with some types becoming full beds. Electric seat controls allow for easier adjustments of recline, leg rest and lumbar support. There are more cabin staff than in Economy Class, meaning better service. Individual video and audio systems are available for each seat in most Business Class flights. Amenity Kits with items such as eye masks and mints, as well as personal power ports for electronics are other benefits offered in Business Class on most airlines. Premium foods and wines are free.
- Business Class fares can run thousands of dollars for international routes but are still lower than First Class fares. For example, a flight on Singapore airlines on its Singapore to London route as of 2010 was $6,354 for a Business Class ticket as opposed to $14,179 for a First Class ticket. Frequent Flyer program miles will obtain Business Class seats or upgrades from Economy Class.
