One of the best gay clubs in Belo Horizonte, Andaluz was affectionately known as Anda - so when owner Denise Martins decided to close it and start it a new place at a different address, that's what she called it.
Like Andaluz, Anda is in Santo Antônio. Why not? This hilly district in BH's Center-South region has some of the city's best bars, such as Via Cristina. Although the Andaluz location on Rua Congonhas was a cute house, part of a group used as a location for one of Brazil's top children's movies (O Menino Maluquinho), the new street has stories of its own; the house on the corner of Congonhas and Leopoldina, once Bar do Lulu, was writer Guimarães Rosa's home, and at #62 is a concrete cow sculpture by artist Marcelo Nitsche, one of the city's most famous icons.
Besides the second-story dance floor with its striking LED ceiling lights, Anda has an outdoor deck, a space that can be used for art exhibitions, two bars, and a bistro area with a stage for pocket shows on the ground floor.
