Degree of Disability

• Once you have reached an end point in healing from your work injury, the level of your permanent impairment will be assessed by a medical doctor. If you have healed completely, your permanent disability may be zero. A permanent impairment rating may take into account both physical and mental injuries.
  
  

Wages

• Your average monthly wage prior to the injury may determine the amount of disability payments you receive. If you return to work and earn an equal or greater amount of money as your pre-injury wages, there may be no monetary disability payment from your workers' compensation case.
  
  

Type of Injury

• Workers' compensation law in Arizona categorizes work injuries as either scheduled or unscheduled. A scheduled injury is to a specific body part, and injuries to specific body parts have set disability monetary amounts. An unscheduled injury is one that involves a more general physical impairment, or a combination of injuries to different body parts. The Industrial Commission of Arizona decides disability payments of unscheduled injuries.
