This second installment in our quarterly literature review series on gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and acid-related disorders addresses 3 original research studies. Topics of focus include the largest, most methodologically sound trial of a gastric plication device to date, a systematic review of the efficacy of the various proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) for treating erosive esophagitis, and an attempt to identify predictors of response to PPI therapy in patients with nonerosive reflux disease (NERD).
