United 93 - 9-11 Movie
Directed by: Paul Greengrass This film takes the point of a view of the 9/11 victims and shows their heroics on the plane which was supposed to crash on the White House.
The trauma which these passengers had to go through is very uncomfortable to watch on the screen.
We have seen the incident taking place several times on our TV screen.
But never has it been so intimate yet devastating.
The strength of the film is the fast cuts in the film which gives a sense of how much time did they have to take an action.
The planning which went into the whole terrorist plot was probably a lot of years.
But the execution was severe blow to the American community and the world.
There is also a definite social issue of the Muslim community being subjugated a lot by American foreign policies.
But this film highlights that it is not only the mistake of the American government alone.
It gives an idea of how these people are brain washed to carry out such acts of terror.
A person watching this might be repelled at some of the similarities the director shows between both the terrorist and the hostages.
The heroics in this film is executed in a more realistic manner adding a documentary feel.
A third person viewing of the going ons without any voice overs gives us a better gauge of events which happened on the plane.
There are scenes in the film when people come to realize they were not several weapons and they might stand a chance to save themselves.
But unlike other Hollywood blockbuster this attempt was a bit too late.
This film also speaks of survival of a species by creating all these differences we have turned into a race which wants to rat out what harms our society.
We have all talked about the safety of the United States.
But they have taken it a step too far by infusing wars in the vicinity of the potential super powers.
Thereby giving them no time develop there immense resources.
Another issue is safety of the American people to what extent will they be insured this safety.
Till the rest of mankind is wiped out.
The Muslims who carry out these operations are intelligent people.
Why do they end up doing these acts? They have realized that their community is under siege around the world.
They feel that it is the Jews who live in America who are plotting against them.
The Jews influence the policy makers in America because of their clout.
But these cycles of vengeance takes its toll on innocent lives.
I think we need to ask a basic question when are we going to stop taking shelter from war with other humans.
When are we going to see that all of us are afraid of our place in society? Will these provide answers to these basic questions.
They might provide an answer for a little while but then everything goes up in smoke.
