The Best Steakhouses In Buenos Aires

106 1

One of Argentina's main exports is beef, and it is no surprise to find that one of the largest producers of beef has a wide selection of steakhouses available in the capital city, including some of the best in South America. As well as being one of Argentina's main exports, beef is one of the most important foods in the Argentine diet, with only Uruguay consuming more beef per person every year. The best steakhouses in Buenos Aires will almost always prefer to use grass-fed beef as opposed to the mass produced grain-fed beef, and the best chefs will usually have excellent meat that is traceable back to the farm where it was produced.

Parrilla La Cabrera
This is one of the best known steakhouses in Argentina, enjoying an international reputation and is noted as one of the places to visit during a trip to Buenos Aires. The first thing that visitors will see is that this is a true celebration of beef, as you are assailed by the smell of cooking meat from the very first step through the door. Whatever your preference, the experienced chef ensures that the steaks are very well cooked to your preference. One of the stand out features of La Cabrera is the wide selection of side dishes available, with something to suit every taste to accompany the steak. The real star here however is the meat, and there are over twenty different cuts available, all coming from local Argentine farms.

La Cabana
La Cabana is one of the oldest steakhouses in Buenos Aires, having first been established in the 1930s, and with more than seventy five years cooking steaks it is fair to say they know a fair bit about getting the perfect steak. One of the great attractions of this restaurant is that it serves Kobe Beef, which was originally a Japanese variety of meat but after importing a small herd of Wagyu cows to Argentina, it is now produced locally too.

The steaks here are superb, and along with a good wine list this is a great place to eat in Buenos Aires.
For those looking to learn more and to get a real taste of the cuisine, La Cabana also runs regular cooking courses during the day, where visitors get to learn about pairing the meat with Argentine wine and the different cuts of steak and their individual flavors.
Le Grill
Situated on the waterfront in Buenos Aires, this restaurant has a wonderful location that is matched by the interior of the restaurant, which is in the newly redeveloped Puerto Madero district of the city. As you enter the restaurant, the grill is clear to see and is a focal point of the layout, tempting you with tantalizing aromas, with the menu offering a good range of different steaks as well as some very interesting starters. While the reduced fat with tabasco is enough to increase your cardiologist's blood pressure, it is very tasty, and the steaks are of a generous size and expertly cooked.
Restaurant Estilo Campo
Although it is not just a steakhouse, the Estilo Campo is one of the city's most popular restaurants and has some superb steaks on offer, including the Kobe beef steaks that are now raised in Argentina. This beef is particularly noted because of the fine marbled quality of the meat, which helps to ensure that it is some of the tastiest and juiciest meat in the country. The benefit of dining at the Estilo Campo is that it also offers a reasonable selection of dishes for those looking for something other than beef. This restaurant also enjoys a pleasant location overlooking the docks, in the popular Puerto Madero district. Rio Alba
Located in the northern part of the city center, Rio Alba is quite close to the embassy district meaning it has an international clientele, and is very welcoming for visitors. This restaurant is closer to the traditional parillas that are frequented by local Argentine residents, with reasonable prices and the generous portions of meat that are so typical of steakhouses across the country. Like all of the steakhouses here Rio Alba serves grass-fed beef, and the superb texture and flavor of the meat is brought out by the expertly cooked cuts.
