How to Protect Your Hands When Using a Steamer
- 1). Read your steamer's instruction manual thoroughly. It will list any safety precautions regarding its use, including what you should not touch while the steamer is in operation.
- 2). Put on a pair of work gloves or oven mitts. Keep them on at all times while you are operating the steamer.
- 3). Keep your hands away from the steam egress points on the steamer (indicated by the instruction manual) any time the steamer is on and operating. Even with gloves on, a high-pressure jet of steam may still be able to burn your hands.
- 4). Unplug the steamer and wait for it to return to room temperature before taking it apart or handling it. Be aware that while the steam may be gone, hot metal surfaces can still burn your hands.
