How to Clean Commercial Premises

    • 1). Speak with the property manager about the cleaning needs of the premises and ask for a guided tour and explanation of what takes place there. Take detailed notes and ask the property manager to help you determine how often each task will need to performed. Write each cleaning task into a calendar so they are done regularly without any area of the commercial premises being allowed to lapse.

    • 2). Empty all the trash cans from individual offices, break rooms, conference rooms and restrooms into larger trash bags for removal. Pick up trash that has missed the baskets or overflowed onto the ground. Replace waste basket liners as needed.

    • 3). Wipe down and sanitize hard surfaces using the appropriate cleaning products for the material and environment. Select natural or food-safe cleaners when working in a commercial facility that deals with edible products. Focus your efforts on surfaces such as door knobs, hand rails and arms rests that are touched often.

    • 4). Sweep hard floors and vacuum carpets starting in the farthest corner of the commercial premises and moving toward the exit. The broom and vacuum will catch any debris that was knocked onto the ground when hard surfaces were wiped down.

    • 5). Mop the bathroom floors and clean the toilets, urinals and sinks. These areas are often the dirtiest parts of a commercial facility. Doing a good cleaning job in the bathrooms is important to making the property manager see the value and professionalism of your work.

    • 6). Inspect your work before you leave the property. Turn the lights on in every room that is supposed to be cleaned and look for trash and debris that may have been missed. Check your calendar to make sure that there are not any special cleaning tasks on the schedule for that day.
