    • 1). Insert the Puppy LiveCD into the computer and reboot the machine from the LiveCD. Puppy Linux boots automatically, but if you are prompted to accept default settings, press the "Enter" key to accept. In most cases, however, there are no prompts, though sometimes, depending on your computer and/or monitor, you may be prompted to select a monitor resolution from one of two choices. Select the defaults for best results.

    • 2). Click the "Setup" icon on the Puppy desktop.

    • 3). Click the "Puppy Universal Installer" option in the Setup menu. The installation wizard launches.

    • 4). Click the radio button in front of the "Install to HDD" option to install Puppy to the hard drive on the old IBM laptop.

    • 5). Click the radio button in front of one of the two partitioning options: "Full" or "Frugal." If you select the "Full" option, Puppy Linux will utilize the entire hard drive. If you select the "Frugal" option, a smaller version of Puppy is installed along with any other installed operating system for a dual-boot system. Click "OK." Puppy installs to the hard drive per your specifications.

    • 6). Reboot the computer into the newly installed hard drive version.
