What to Expect at the NJ Boardwalk

101 12
These boardwalks were built to allow people to enjoy the sunshine and sea breeze without having to go on the beach. Likewise, the outdoor cafes, restaurants, boutique shops, and clubs allow people to enjoy the rejuvenating effects of the fresh salt air year round. Many of the NJ boardwalk areas are also pet friendly, so dog owners can walk their pets in the open sea air any time of the day or night.

Recovering from Sandy

Hurricane Sandy was just that, a hurricane of grand proportions. Many of the boardwalks, restaurants, homes, and businesses on the coast line of New Jersey were damaged in the storm. Sandy wiped out entire sections of boardwalks, restaurants and houses. The damaging winds knocked over beach club cabanas, light poles, and even parking lot barricades! Many of the beaches were also eroded by high, wild surf and rising water lines during the hurricane. Some houses located on the edge of an oceanfront piece of property were entirely destroyed.

Better than Ever in Belmar

However, most NJ boardwalk areas have been rebuilt and are more beautiful than they were before. The damage that Hurricane Sandy caused allowed local residents and towns to rebuild their boardwalk areas to their own specifications. For example, the boardwalk in Belmar gleams in the sunlight, and there are even four giant size chairs to enjoy at the entrance to the town's beach. Kids love these giant chairs, as do romantic couples who can easily fit together in one seat.

Spring Lake Springs to Life

Likewise, the boardwalk in Spring Lake has been completely rebuilt. The town is also in the process of rebuilding one of their municipal pool facilities. It will be ready in time for the 2014 beach season. Many of the restaurants and shops near the beach that were damaged in the storm have also been rebuilt and are more spacious, welcoming and elegant than before. The damage that the storm caused has allowed local residents of the NJ boardwalk area to make their beach havens even more beautiful.

Find out for yourself

Although Hurricane Sandy did cause quite a bit of damage in New Jersey, especially along exposed boardwalk areas, the storm has a silver lining. Many of local towns, residents and business owners have taken the opportunity to rebuild. This opportunity has allowed local towns, business owners and residents to make renovations and upgrades that were previously too expensive. The NJ boardwalk is now open for business, as the saying goes. You will find brand-new gleaming boardwalks to enjoy, upgraded swimming facilities and newly renovated shops and restaurants. It is all there waiting for you.
