Kidney Cancer Therapy
- Cytokines are given to a patient in order to boost the immune system with hope that the immune system will fight off the cancer.
- Drugs like Sorafenib, Sunitinib, Temsirolimus, Everolimus and Bevacizumab prevent the conditions that lead to kidney cancer, preventing this cancer from developing in the first place.
- Surgery involves removing all or part of the patient's kidney. In some cases, the patient can function fine with one kidney. However, there are times when the patient will need a kidney donation.
- Radiation therapy for the kidney uses external beam radiation in order to eradicate or slow the growth of tumor cells in the kidney.
- In rare instances, chemotherapy is used to fight kidney cancer. But chemotherapy does not always work with kidney cancer, as opposed to other forms of cancer.
