    • The Avalon, introduced in 1995, is Toyota's flagship sedan offering. It is specifically targeted at North American car buyers and is manufactured at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Georgetown, Kentucky. The 2000 model featured improved sound insulation, redesigned side mirrors and increased horsepower and torque thanks to the new variable valve timing on the 3-liter V6 engine.

    • The fuel tank on the XLS could hold up to 18.50 gallons of gasoline. It achieved 21 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway.

    • The XLS had four doors and stood 57.70 inches tall. It was 71.70 inches wide and 191.90 inches long with a wheelbase of 107.10 inches and ground clearance of 5.10 inches. The XLS weighed 3,451 lbs. It could hold 15.90 cubic feet of cargo and had passenger space of 106.60 cubic feet.

    Passenger Space

    • The XLS could seat five passengers with an optional six-seat configuration. Front passengers got 38.70 inches of headroom, 41.70 inches of legroom, 58.40 inches of shoulder room and 55.20 inches of hip room. Rear passengers experienced 37.90 inches of headroom, legroom of 40.10 inches, 58.10 inches of shoulder room and 55.10 inches of hip room.

    Safety Specifications

    • The 2000 Avalon XLS came with standard child safety locks. It also had anti-lock brakes to help prevent an accident. If a crash did occur, the standard driver, passenger and front side airbags would minimize the impact.
