The Authorship of The Chymical Wedding

105 2
The work Chemical Wedding was published in the year 1616 and was very similar in the style and concept to the Hypnerotomachia and Beroalde de Verville's. The interesting fact is that the authority of the Chemical Wedding is arrogated to Lutheran Johann Valentin Andreae. It is presumed that he wrote this work in the age of nineteen and printed after ten years. But some scientists doubt that Andreae is an author of Chemical Wedding. For example. Adam McLean contends that Andreae was an orthodox or Lutheran pastor and not write such esoteric work because there are a lot of heretical thoughts in some extracts. McLean only concedes that Andreae could write a draft variant with the main concept and then this version was rewritten into the famous original work.

The most amazing version is that the Chemical love was written by the muse herself and the assumed authors just wrote down the thoughts and ideas of the muse. In this situation the real author doesn't need to be known. He could be just ordinary man without any outstanding capabilities.

The person of the author of the Chemistry Wedding is still a secret. It is supposed that the work which Andreae has written in the age of nineteen was only the ludubrium of the youth and he did not enclose the real meaning and the idea into the work. The secret discovered in the work did not really mean for him, and perhaps on this reason he spent a rest of his life as a monk in the monastery feeling uneasy because of the presence of the Muse.

So, the authorship of the work create a lot of questions, the main of them is: ""How could such dry Christian men of the cloth write just a single inspirational piece in this manner and never approach this level of literary achievement again?".
