What is copywriting? Does your headline make sense? How can you grab a reader's attention with a good headline? How many times have you had that experience where you sign on to check your email and a headline grabs your attention on that Yahoo or AOL email account, and the next thing you know, you are reading an article! It wasn't exactly in your plans at that moment, was it? Yet, you did it anyway.
This didn't happen by accident.
This happened because the writer was trying to lure you in through curiosity or some other technique.
Don't waste another moment "shooting in the dark," while writing your articles.
Ask yourself, "What is copywriting?" What good advertising examples can you use to create your headline? Did you realize that every time you got distracted by that article, there was a hook designed just to capture your attention? George Gribbin reminds us, "A copywriter should have an understanding of people, an insight into them, a sympathy toward them.
" If you don't use a headline that will capture your prospect's attention, it is not like this is the end of the world.
It is, however, a couple of hours or more of your valuable time wasted.
When comparing headlines for articles to headlines for copywriting ads, different techniques apply.
For example, when writing headlines for a mini site or squeeze page, there are several formulas and grabbing your reader's attention in a unique way definitely applies.
However, when writing headlines for articles, incorporating good keywords in those headlines must be considered if you ever want the article to be read.
It is a totally different ballgame, so to speak.

If you're trying to persuade people to do something, or buy something, it seems to me you should use their language, the language they use every day, the language in which they think.
We try to write in the vernacular.
" The point is, whenever someone types something into Google, chances are that their grammar isn't the top thing on their minds.
So, how would you go about getting around that without sounding like the writer who doesn't know how to use proper English? If you have ever seen a headline that made no grammatical sense, especially in an article, there may be a method to the madness.
The challenge as a writer is coming across as a good writer while taking advantage of these improper grammatical keywords that tend to be quite popular at times.
Here is a good example, "How to write a article.
" The English major is going to immediately pick up on the fact that this is improper English and this should say, "How to write AN article.
" But would you believe that this phrase gets 60,500 hits per month? It's true! This illustrates the point that often improper grammar is more popular than being grammatically correct when it comes to finding the right keywords for your articles.
Obviously, people are just Googling whatever phrases are "easiest to type," knowing that it will pull up what they are looking for, yet not caring in the least whether or not it would pass an English test.
After all, no one is there grading them at that moment, right? So, as a writer, how to you resolve this problem? How do you write what people are looking for and still maintain a degree of professionalism? "What is copywriting," anyway?! The bottom line is that sometimes you have to get a little bit creative.
As long as you can figure out a way to still make your article make sense, then you are good to go.
Good copywriters can usually figure out ways around this.
They have figured out a long time ago that good copywriting skills and grammar do not always go together.
Learning these types of tips and others will go a long way with your writing career.
Do you have to explain why your headline did not make sense? Not really! Unless of course you are writing an article about writing to other writers!
