Then they go out and buy another larger tank for safety's sake and then yes, even another larger tank which is the one they could've bought in the first place if they had researched the hobby first.
You won't be doing all of that because you will have researched the hobby first before you start a freshwater fish aquarium and you will therefore know for certain that this hobby is for you.
Then there is no need for a small tester tank.
And don't think that you're not going to buy the largest possible tank which will fit into your space at home because you will.
Everyone ends up doing this, almost without exception.
