How to Identify Business Continuity Resources
- 1). Walk through the process of performing each critical function with the personnel who normally perform it. This may mean shadowing personnel in each department for a few days.
- 2). List each step of the critical function, no matter how small. Include details, such as the form of communication normally used (which may include e-mail or submitting a Web form), the use of servers and other computing resources, power requirements, etc.
- 3). Create a list of the personnel who participate in the completion of the function. Also, note their backups.
- 4). Create a list of any vendors used, if applicable. Note their contact information. Research and acquire backup vendors that can provide the same product.
