How to Link Wind Generators

104 4
    • 1). Install multiple wind generators. Those with blades will be spaced with enough distance to ensure that they do not interfere with the operation of other wind turbines by disturbing the air. A rule of thumb is to space them at least three rotor distances from each other.

    • 2). Wire each generator to the fuse box at the base of the turbine. The wiring process itself will be determined by the model of wind generator and fuse box. Typically, you will strip the covering of the wire back to expose the underlying metal and wrap the exposed metal around a screw in the fuse box. More expensive systems may simply have a plug for the wire end.

    • 3). Select a location for the combiner box that is near the charge controller or inverter. Measure the distance from the combiner box to the fuse boxes on each wind turbine. Cut wires that will cover the length from each turbine to the box, accounting for extra distance if you intend to bury the wire.

    • 4). Connect the appropriate length of wire to each fuse box's designated "out" junction. This junction will be labeled. Run all of these wires to one of the "in" junctions on the combiner box. You need one junction per turbine; buy a combiner box with enough junctions to handle the job.

    • 5). Wire the combiner box to the charge controller or the inverter.
