How to Change the Memory in a Dell Latitude
- 1). Turn off your Latitude laptop and disconnect the AC power cord. Turn the laptop over and unlock the battery release lever. Grasp the battery and slide it free of the bay.
- 2). Put a grounding strap on your wrist and attach the clip to the laptop's chassis. This will prevent built up static electricity from harming the electrical components in your laptop.
- 3). Remove the two screws from the keyboard, then open the display and sit the laptop on its edge. Make sure you are working on a stable surface.
- 4). Work the keyboard free of the computer, starting with the left side of the keyboard. Turn the keyboard over, locate the data cable and unclip it from the computer.
- 5). Remove the access panel screws from the computer to open the memory compartment. Gently push the retention clips back from the memory module, and lift the module free of the computer. Insert the new memory at an angle, and push it in until it snaps. Make sure the retention clips snap into place.
