How to Plumb an Under-the-Sink Temperature Valve
- 1). Turn off the hot and cold valves beneath the sink. Turn the knobs or levers on the valves clockwise until they stop. Place a bucket under the valves. Open the sink faucets.
- 2). Remove the supply lines from the tops of the valves with an adjustable wrench. Catch any residual water from the supply lines in a bucket. Remove the supply line from the bottom of the hot-water faucet.
- 3). Place a 3/8-inch by 3/8-inch supply line on the cold-water valve, and tighten it with an adjustable wrench. Plumb the end of the line to a 3/8-inch tee, and tighten it. Connect the supply line from the cold-water faucet to the tee, and tighten it.
- 4). Plumb a 3/8-inch by 5/8-inch supply line to the open port on the tee. Place the 5/8-inch end on the side of the temperature valve marked with a "C." Tighten both ends securely.
- 5). Connect a 3/8-inch by 5/8-inch supply line from the hot-water valve to the side of the temperature valve marked with an "H." Tighten the ends of the line.
- 6). Plumb a 5/8-inch by 1/2-inch supply line from the hot-water faucet to the side of the temperature valve marked "Mix." Tighten the supply line.
- 7). Turn on the valves under the sink and set the temperature valve according to the manufacturer's instructions.
