Many poker players have heard about PKR poker and wondered what all the excitement is about. Surely such a new poker room could not make an impact on online poker. However, PKR is doing just that with their revolutionary 3D software.
Other online poker sites all look similar. The tables, lobbies, and player avatars are boring and plain. However, PKR changes all of that.
The first thing I noticed when opening PKR was how nice the lobby was set up. At the top there were 5 tabs I could select to browse to different sections. The first tab I clicked was the "Me" tab.
This tab is where you can customize your player's appearance. You can change things like clothing, facial features, voice, and sex. There are literally millions of possible combinations, making sure you can create the perfect character for yourself.
Certain items have to be unlocked by using PKR points. PKR points are points you accumulate through playing at PKR, and can be redeemed for special clothing items, customization options, or accessories.
After creating my character, I headed to the tables. When you sit down at the table, your camera view is the standard overhead view. This reminded me too much of the old poker sites, so I switched to first person view.
First person view puts the camera right behind your characters eyes. You can drag the screen left, right, up, or down to look around the table, and it creates a truly life like experience. First person view was by far my favorite camera angle.
Besides first person view, I also liked dynamic mode. This camera mode makes you feel like you're playing poker on TV, because it follows the action from one player to another as they act. You see what each player does: Call, fold, bet, or raise.
PKR's game play is what really sets it apart from other poker rooms. In my eyes, 3D poker is the future, and PKR is the first poker room to really step it up.
