Creative Gifts for Moms

A gift for a mother that will stand out from past gifts will need to invoke more thought, planning and creativity. Use her interests, hobbies and general taste as inspiration to choose a unique yet enjoyable gift for her. A homemade gift will be both a one-of-a-kind and sentimental choice. - An inexpensive though deeply valuable gift for a mother is a homemade coupon book. Fill the book with pages of coupons redeemable for a variety of chores and errands, such as doing the laundry, washing the dishes, walking the dog and taking out the trash. Include chores that may even save her money if she typically hires someone to do them, such as cleaning the gutters and mowing the lawn. Add a few pampering coupons such as a home-cooked meal or a back massage to add the finishing touch to the coupon book.
- Compile a scrapbook to show your mother just how valued she is to those in her family and friend circle. Give a blank scrapbook page to everyone in your family and to her close friends. This could include coworkers, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and cousins. Have each person fill the page in a way that reflects his love for her. You will likely receive an assortment of pages with everything from a child's crayon drawings to heartfelt letters. Compile all the pages into a scrapbook for your mother.
- Compile the dry ingredients for your mother's favorite type of cookie. Mix all the dry ingredients together and place the mix into a jar. Write the recipe, along with the baking instructions on an index card and place this in the jar as well. Label the jar with the type of mix that is inside, such as "Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix." Give her the jar and the recipe for an easy-to-whip-up snack for her enjoyment.
