How to Make Armor Out of Fabric
- 1). Cut the grey jersey knit or silver sequined fabric into strips measuring about 4 inches by 10 inches.
- 2). Put on the clothes you would like to wear under your "armor."
- 3). Pin the top 4 inch wide edge of a strip of fabric to your clothing, beginning at the bottom edge of your shirt using a safety pin. Add a second strip beside the first, then another and another all the way around your shirt.
- 4). Add subsequent layers of grey strips of material in the same fashion as roof shingles are laid. This will create the illusion of layered sections of chain mail armor. Using the sequined fabric will make it shine, seeming like polished metal, white the grey jersey knit fabric will look dull.
- 5). Place a tunic or armor pieces made of cardboard painted with silver spray paint over top of the "chainmail" armor to help it blend in to your costume.
