• A person's golden birthday is celebrated when their age matches the day of the month on which they were born. For instance, someone born on the 15th of the month would celebrate his or her golden birthday when turning 15. The golden birthday is also known as the "champagne birthday". There are many ideas that can be used to give someone a golden birthday party he or she will not soon forget.
  
  

Invitations

• Purchase several pieces of black card stock and write any pertinent information, such as the date, time, and venue of the party, with a gold gel pen or puffy paint. To add a little golden sparkle, cover the card with spray glue and sprinkle the entire card with gold glitter. Other accent colors can be utilized. For instance, if the birthday boy or girl's favorite color is red, use red glitter on the invitation as well. Ask the guests to RSVP for the party by saying "Eureka" for yes.
  
  

Decorations

• Purchase as many gold items as possible to decorate the hall or room. These could include gold napkins, plastic cups, plates and plastic cutlery. Fill gold balloons with helium and tie them together with golden ribbon. These can be used as centerpieces on tables or left to float against the ceiling throughout the room. If the birthday party is being thrown for a smaller child, tie pink or blue balloons into the bundle as well. Place gift bags on each table for the guests that contain gold trinkets such as plastic rings, chocolate coins wrapped in gold, gold foil wrapped chocolate candies and gold bead necklaces.
  
  

Games

• If the party is geared toward children, set up a station and allow them to pan for gold. Cover some everyday garden rocks with gold paint and allow the children to take their fortune home with them. Gold nuggets could also be scattered throughout a room and the children could search for them. Whichever child finds the most nuggets could also win a gold themed prize, such as a teddy bear with a gold ribbon tied around its neck.
  
  

Cake

• Make a white cake and cover it with white roses or other flowers. Place gold foil leaves around the flowers, which can be purchased at most party supply stores. Write the birthday boy or girl's name in gold gel and add other small gold trinkets to the top of the cake, such as gold wrapped chocolate coins.
